With ancestral origins, the village only began to develop at the end of the 15th century.
São Silvestre enjoys the view over the fields of the Mondego, which makes this parish unique... with enormous storks and kites being seen over the fields.
The main crops are: corn, rice, olive trees and vineyards, the main contributors to the growth of the parish;

Visit the University of Coimbra recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which already boasts 700 years of academic tradition, and its majestic 18th century library, which is just a few minutes’ walk away.
